Yellow House is well situated in the heart of Northumberland, England's rural border county, on the edge of the National Park. The area has recently been recognised as the most tranquil place in the country. Nestled in the Cheviot Hills it is the ideal base for walkers, cyclists, horse riding, outdoor sports or those wishing simply to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

In addition to the many footpaths and bridleways around Yellow House (the alternative Coast to Coast Route goes through the village of West Woodburn), we are near to the Pennine Way and Kielder Forest.

Fishing can be arranged on the nearby River Rede or stillwater fishing at Sweethope Lough and Kielder Water.

Horse Racing – we can arrange a visit to Susan Corbetts Training yard with over 20 racehorses working every day you can also see the mares and foals which will be tomorrows racehorses!

We are within an hours drive of Hexham Racecourse, Newcastle, Sedgefield, Kelso with Carlisle not much further away.

Sustrans National ‘Route 68’ and ‘The Sandstone Way’ passes through the village and we have full lockup facilities at Yellow House.

Castles and Houses - There are over 500 castles and houses in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Bamburgh Castle to name but one, stands on a rocky outcrop on the very edge of the North Sea commanding stunning views of the Farne Islands and Holy Island. Alnwick Castle & Garden – home of Harry Potter and great to visit with children.

Kielder Water - Sailing, water sports, a cruise around the reservoir, fishing and a swimming pool. All set in the vast Kielder Forest where lakeside and forest trails offer the visitor many pleasant surprises.

The Kielder observatory is one of a few local places to enjoy our well know dark sky. However you can also sit in the garden and enjoy the Dark Skies from Yellow House!

Hadrians Wall Country - The edge of the Roman Empire, Northumbria was once the furthest border of the Roman Empire. After almost 2000 years the Roman occupation is still clearly visible.

Newcastle/Gateshead - Why not make a day of it, over the Tyne to Europes largest indoor shopping centre the Metro Centre a state of the art shopping centre.. Everything you will need all housed under one roof with loads of free parking. Then perhaps an evening out in Newcastle.
